Surprise!

I really tot that vitamins are good for the body especially the vitamins that help to protect against free-radicals.

However, looking thru BruDirect today, I was a bit shocked. There’s an article called Vitamins ‘could shorten lifespan’ from BBC news. They study shows that vitamin suppliments actually shorten lifespan. Hmmmm……… but the whole world belives the opposite thing.

Amazing what they found out these day thru research.

Some more unexpected findings: “Ice cream may aid fertility for some”, where the article says “Ben & Jerry might help you get pregnant, but not in the usual way. A diet rich in ice cream and other high-fat dairy foods may lower the risk of one type of infertility, a study suggests. It sounds too good to be true and probably is, some doctors say.

Funny huh?

Wah!, not long ago which is on Sunday kali ada jua baby kana buang 2day rah BruDirect pun ada lagi anak kana buang.

http://www.brudirect.com/DailyInfo/News/Archive/Feb07/220207/nite01.htm

In a shoe box lagi tu the baby kana buang. But yg membari getgitan is when they say “Crime Scene Unit detectives were also at the scene gathering evidence. Due to investigative procedures, the police were unable to confirm whether it was the remains of a baby.

Is it so hard to identify a baby’s remains?

Toads

•February 18, 2007 • 2 Comments

Yesterday we killed toads for our practical. It was quite cruel, but for the sake of eduction, it had to be done.

Firstly we cut the spinal cord using scissors then we inserted a pin to the brain to kill the brain cells and to the spinal column to kill the central nervous system. This step puts the toad into a brain-dead state while the body is still functioning.

Since we wanted to study the effect of temperature and neurotransmiters on the heart, we have to dissect it.

Here’s what the insides of a toad looked like:

After dissecting.

A close-up. The heart is at the centre above the live, which is dark red in color.

Peer pressure

•February 18, 2007 • 2 Comments

Featured on the Weekend edition of Borneo Bulletin yesterday was an article about The Pros and Cons of Peer Pressure by Zowy Costa. I couldn’t agree more with the atricle as it’s really amazing what people do just to fit in.

Here is the link to the article:

Hiking

•February 11, 2007 • 1 Comment

Today I joined the hiking activity that RESCO organised. It was fun as it involves many UBDians hiking the 9 hills of Bukit Shah Bandar. Some did take shortcuts though.

The only downside is that the place was wet and slippery coz it had been raining since dawn. Luckily it stopped when we reached there to start hiking.

After hiking, we were given foods and drinks. We were enjoying our refreshments while being watched by monkeys that were eager to take the leftovers. Seeing some of these monkeys are small, cute and still baby-like, we gave them food. Since we don’t know what food they eat, we just threw a variety of foods such as: apples, oranges, chilie, chicken and tofu. Apparently they don’t eat tofu or chilie but they do eat oranges and apples.

Palmolive Thermal SPA

•February 5, 2007 • Leave a Comment

I’ve just recently bought one of these wonderful shower gel from Palmolive.

First of all, no previous product from Palmolive are catchy enough for me to try or buy, except for this one. I was in search of a new shower gel at that time. Since I’ve been unfaithful to J&J’s Top2Toe wash for quite some time, i might as well just try some other brands out there. Plus there’s a promotion.

There are 3 types of Thermal SPA shower gels: Massage, Hydrating and Firming. But I think the hydrating shower gel is not available here in Brunei.

So I decided to buy the “massage” shower gel.

The review:

The smell is incredible. The first time I used it, it feels lyk i’m using perfume. I never thought anything from Palmolive could smell that good. Just hope it’s not carcinogenic though.

The beads are too small and fine to have a massaging or exfoliating effect. Either that’s true or I have a crocodile’s thick skin sampai inda kerasaan. Hmmm….. mayB I should use sponge dawai next time along with this shower gel.

The texture is too thin i.e it has low viscosity, so it’s as if someone just filled half of the bottle with shower gel and the rest with water.

Overall it’s quite ok for a cheaply priced shower gel, especially from Palmolive. Or mayB i’m just a sucker for great smelling products.

Stormy Beach

•February 4, 2007 • Leave a Comment

It have been a long time since we all posted anything on this blog, so I thought I’d post something.

Ok, first of all, stay as far away from the beach as possible. This is a dangerous time to be near the beach as it is the rainy season in Brunei. I have just read about 2 Filipinos drowned to death hahahaha, sorry! it’s my use of word yg cali, not them drowning.

A couple of weeks ago, i too went to the same place when the weather was stormy. It’s actually quite nice being there, strong wind blowing the sand all over the beach, mcm tah pernah inda berangin kan d pantai ani. Anyway, siuk lah time ia ribut a2.

Ok a2 sja lah, ngalih udah ku menaip. Lain kali lagi. hehehehe! Enjoy the photos i took when i was at the beach. Jg sue aku ah coz i don’t have permission to post the photos yg ada urang dlmnya.

This last photo does not mean that i’m on hiatus as some people usually post this image to indicate they are taking a break from blogging.
